February 7 :: Leviticus 1-3; Matthew 24:1-28

Matthew Henry commentary on Leviticus 1:

"The general design of these laws is plain. The sacrifices typified Christ; they also shadowed out the believer's duty, character, privilege, and communion with God. There is scarcely any thing spoken of the Lord Jesus in Scripture which has not also a reference to his people."

To think of Jesus willingly being this sacrifice we foreshadowed with animal sacrifice breaks my heart and heals it all at once. WE deserve to be the ones who are slaughtered...but we aren't! Instead, we are given grace. How great is our God that He would paint our doors with His blood...that we may be passed over when His righteous judgment comes? How great?
