February 20 :: Leviticus 26-27; Mark 2

This is the last day of Leviticus - here are some facts about this book to sum up the reading...

- Our English translation comes from the Greek for "pertaining to the Levites." However, the Hebrew title translates in English to "And He called," from the first words written in the book.

- This book was either personally written or else dictated by Moses, as attested to by Jesus in Mark 1:44.

- The theme of this book is SACRIFICE, as noticeable by language usage. Sacrifice occurs 42 times, Priest occurs 189 times, blood occurs 86 times, holy occurs 87 times, and atonement occurs 45 times.

- Exodus ends with the building of the tabernacle, so naturally, Leviticus picks up with the ways in which this tabernacle is to be used.

- This book covers what God required from His people in order to have fellowship with Him, the sin of man, and the message of atonement - provided by God.
