July 9 :: Job 38-40; Acts 16:1-21

 Job 39:1-3

"Do you know when the mountain goats give birth?
       Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn?
Do you count the months till they bear?
       Do you know the time they give birth?
They crouch down and bring forth their young;
       their labor pains are ended."

This passage is jam-packed with meaning - what do you see? Some things to note about what it says about God, who is speaking in it (bound to be good):

1. God shows Job what He knows, but what Job doesn't.
2. God pays loving & caring attention to even a doe on a mountainside bearing her fawn.
3. God times even the duration for which one is in the womb.
4. Pain ends once one has given birth (or perhaps bore fruit).
5. This leads me to conclude that perhaps what is birthed, what is fruitful, that which is considered fruit...has been orchestrated to come from pain.
6. God has set it that so sometimes out of great pain comes beauty.
7. Job has just learned a big lesson...problem of evil anyone?
