December 29 :: Zechariah 9-12; Revelation 20

I have been finding the book of Revelation really interesting/informative to read. There are so many small details in here about particulars of the end times and I have forgotten many, confused some, or perhaps just misunderstood in the past. So, it's interesting to note here (and correct me if I'm understanding this wrong) that only the saints who are beheaded during the rule of the beast will be brought back to life for the first resurrection to reign for the thousand years. I didn't know that!

{Revelation 20:4-5}

And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.

And here there are many things differentiated between, which often come to be seen as one in the same, such as "Hades," "death," and "the lake of fire," which is hell. So Hades is different than death and death is different than the lake of fire, for both Hades and death will be thrown into the lake of fire. Interesting huh?

{Revelation 20:12-14}

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.
