October 3 :: Isaiah 17-19; Ephesians 5:17-33

Read this below scripture and just think about it...can and does the Lord use suffering to call us closer to Him? Click on the play button to watch a video of a guy named Todd White using his God-given gift of healing on Mill Avenue in Tempe, AZ. Listen as he sometimes even THANKS God for the assignment of the sickness, but to make it now go away.

Isaiah 19:20-22

When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and he will rescue them. So the LORD will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the LORD. They will worship with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and keep them. The LORD will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the LORD, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.

  1. The idea that God uses pain to draw us to Him comes across a lot in scripture. James, for example, writes that trials are the way God grows us in faith. And Christ's sacrifice is the very method God uses to reconcile humanity to Himself.

    I really like that C.S. Lewis quote: "God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."

    Okay, now back to studying.
